After seeing our work, RUSH Hair in the heart of York city centre contacted us to design a large feature wall mural for the back wall in the salon.
The Brief
As they are right in the centre of York, RUSH Hair had their regular client base but wanted to attract more passing trade and walk in enquiries.
The branding was strong and set so whatever we designed would have to work well with what they already had. They pride themselves on being “the colour experts” and had a few bits of literature inside the salon detailing more about that service.
We were asked to create something with a real “wow factor” that was sure to stand out and catch the eye of passing trade and brighten the monotone fit out of the salon. They wanted to have a real talking point and also to use as a backdrop when they post hairstyles and colours on their social media pages.
The Process
The initial site visit was carried out to take the brief in person and discuss all the requirements and select the material which would be used to print onto. The
wall was measured too!
We then set to work, producing a number of initial sketches and concepts for the client to take a look at. We really wanted to get across that they are the York branch and of course the fact that they are a vibrant salon.
After the initial presentation the concept was chosen and from their onwards we began to create the final piece of artwork by hand. This project was a combination of pen and watercolour which was produced by hand, flat and to scale of the wall itself.
Once we had final approval on the design it was then on to the printing process where the design was then made in to the wallpaper and then installed.
The Result
A real ‘wow factor’ statement mural has given the client everything they wanted and more. Here’s what they had to say:
